Custard Cream wins emergency gig

Extra gig added to band’s early schedule

Custard Cream will be playing at the Duke’s Head in Wokingham on Saturday June 1st from 8:30pm, it has been announced. Although it is rather short notice, the band is worried that people might mix up the dates because the Duke’s Head is where Custard Cream will be playing the following Saturday as well – a gig that has been booked in for over a month now…

Confused? No need.

Custard Cream founder and guitarist, Nige Owst and his wife, Dawn, were visiting the pub for a sociable pint when the landlord asked whether the band could step in.

“Yes, but it’ll cost you,” said a quick-witted Dawn.

Thus the band will be playing the same venue twice in just eight days – and making all of its first three gigs Wokingham-based. Unusual to say the least.

“We won’t be making a song and dance about this one,” commented Mechkov. “I’m sure people are more than capable of realising that there are two gigs on two consecutive Saturdays at the same place, but we have already started promoting the June 8th gig so we’ll leave it at that.

“The Duke’s Head has some sort of event taking place on the 1st, so we’ll leave it for them… But if anyone can’t make the 8th and wants to… Oh, never mind…”
